What it is

Meet weekly for a semester with a trained peer coach for input on how to study effectively for UT courses.

Why it works

Session content is tailored to individual student needs, but common topics include:
  • Effective study techniques
  • Managing time and energy
  • Reading strategies and concentration
  • Note-taking and preparing for tests
  • Test-taking and stress reduction tips
Peer coaches are supervised by professional learning specialists and the program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association.

How it works

Request a coach by visiting Jester A115A or by clicking on "Student Log-in" to submit a coaching request form (go to the bar on the left and select "Academic Coaching - Get A Coach"). Space is limited and participants are accepted on a rolling basis until the program is full. The cost of coaching is currently covered by the Sanger Learning & Career Center in collaboration with campus colleagues and interested donors.

Begun in 2002, the Peer Academic Coaching program celebrates its tenth anniversary on campus this year and thanks the 120 coaches who have contributed to the academic experience of more than 1500 UT students over the past decade.

For further information about the program, please contact

Darcy Barrick, Program Director of Academic Counseling Services (faculty/staff inquiries)
Christelle Le Faucheur, Program Coordinator (student inquiries)
